Just waiting for mysql

Just doing a quick update of my mysql tables on a site. I need to rewrite the code, cause it takes forever!

It was a bit (lot) of a quicky and I use it more than I thought, so go back an redo it I recon.

I'll put it on the list... like those 130 other items on there I suppose.

first post in 2006!

Well,

obviously a bit of a delay, all my avid readers.

But life in mullum is smooth as ever, a few more floods, a few more birds, some blue tonges and all the rest of the crew.

Still haven't cleared out the shed, but I'll have my tax done soon, I promise. Tonight I am going for! Or at the very latest tomorrow morning in the post at lunchtime.

see ya

it is hot and I am distracted

Everything seems a bit weird today.

One of my hosts just seemed to pretty much stop, and I don't know why. It's a new one on
trial. One black mark!

And I need some fresh air I think.

I may go on my evening walk a little earlier than normal. And then do a bit of work when I
get back, hopefully refreshed.

I've just been given a buzz

that is mean't to tell me something. But what is it?

Well, I guess it is what ever I want it to be. A neutral buzz can be perceived however you want.

So I think I'll let it be a sign of pure excellence.

On another note. I wonder where I can get a great synonymn tool.

so I type in university and I get college, universities, collegiate, colleges, etc.

Google may know I suppose...

Lightning and thunder

Recent storm here tested my guttering work. And found it wanting. So I've had to add some extra supporting stays. I've used those wind up wire tensioners as adjustable stays, with considerable success. I really quite like it, since I can easily adjust it all to be nicely true.

But, one day I need to get the professionals in!

Put it on the $10000 list I suppose. To be spent when I have a spare 10 grand!

preselling... is it really important?

I'm just listening to an audio which mentions preselling.

It claims that it is vital, I don't think I have really explored that yet.

Maybe I should tell people how to buy in detail, since I'm sure they want to!!

But some web sites are very difficult to actually buy from.

hum...

windows XP virus

The day did not o as it was intended to do. (I don't think they ever do - which is lucky, it'd be a bit boring if you know exactly what would occur!)

Someone I know got a computer problem - virus, then corrupted windows, can't dial up internet.. etc, etc.

It never rains, it pours. That's why I thought I'd just write a few blog entries. Nice and easy - nothing can go wrong, right?

long gap!

I've been doing some fairly intense programming and I've not got back to this blog for a few weeks. I also want to do some datafeed applications soon. This should be only a few weeks and should improve my web sites a lot.

Also image caching and watermarking are on the cards after that.

onward and upward.

USB backup disk

Just looking for a USB backup drive to use for total copies of a hard drive in case of failure.
The WD essentials looks quite good. Although I am a bit concerned about cooling in a hot summer, which we get around here. USB 2.0 should be fast enough to transfer the data in a resonable time.

My PC actually only supports USB 1.1 which is very slow. I can look over to my left and see the 4 way usb 2 card that I have been meaning to fit... maybe this weekend I'll take the computer cover off and slot in that PCI card!

mulching lizards

Lizards, blue tounges that is, seem to like burrowing in the mulch. Then they will stick their heads up and scan the world. I guess to check it's all ok.

Insulation is good. Pretty much always.

And the lizards know this.

It is amazing how they will flatten out their bodies to pick up maximum heat. And then minimise surface area to avoid losing heat when the sun is not out.

how many hosts are there less than $1 per month?

Looking for cheap web hosting. At less than a dollar a month.

There does seem to be 30 or so around. I need to check into them in more detail to see if they are any good as well.

But how do you tell?

is it worth it?

Monday, August 22, 2005

have you ever?

had something pointed out to you that you really knew anyway, but somehow were ignoring?

I can sometimes think in too short term ways. If I put it off for a week, a month, a year, it never happens, except it does...

So, how to automatically think in long enough time periods?

"future pacing" I think it's called.

Apply! Future pace, future pacing?

back home again

here we are back home. Now to catch up with life.

all those piles of "stuff". Al those notes to myself.

How do you eat an elephant. One bite at a time.

So go look at Elance as a starter

going on a trip

yup, down the coast we go for a time.

To see what we see

To eat what we see

Although not in the sea, cause I don't like seafood. Yuk.

all the bits - now just do the work

Hey,

I've got all the guttering and drainage bits I need now. only $300. Bargain!

So Sat Sun and Monday this is going to get done, even though I'd like to be doing other things I could outsource it, but that would be another three hundred bucks I recon.

So go for it!

get out that water level.

Nice pink string

hammer

spade

glue

silicone

and all those bits

just put them together in the right order.

bye

I am full

Just had brocolli and refried roasted veggies for lunch. And I am full!

Now onward to working, which is going much better recently, thanks I think to Yahoo!

But, what yahoo gives, they can surely take away. So diversify and survive another day, or week, or month, or year.

Once I feel a bit easier in the stomach I'll have a nice cup of earl grey tea, which is my fave.

ordering guttering

I've ordered all the guttering bits I need in "manor red" - which matches the shed.

And I should get it all delivered on wednesday.

So, Thursday could be a get down and dirty kind of morning.

I could/should do the water level measurements to get the angle right on the guttering up front.

Maybe tomorrow morning - or wednesday itself I suppose.

alkaline water and ionized too

Alkaline water filter with an ionizer built in. Just been looking at a model at the local industrial estate. Quite expensive, but if the information about how bad acidity in the body is is true. Then it could be a worthwhile investment. After all I've been putting $60 per month into a medical fund for no return over the last 3 years!

So maybe on for the next 2-3 months or so.

Also getting ready for a road trip. In some ways I don't really want to go, although it'll be quite fun once we are there. And I can spend sometime away from the 'front line', so to speak and think on a higher level.

lizzy the lizard

Lizards on the prowl. Yes the blue tongues are taking over the garden. Under the spa. In the borders. On rocks. By the pond, not yet, since a snake had that spot.

I do like a nice lizard.

And Lizzy seems to like us.

All goes to show that a lizard might not be cuddly, but it sure can be a pal.

wire brush shopping

I just bought a wire brush from the local hardware store. Three dollars and change for a plastic handle wire brush. And eight dollars for the wooden handled wire brushes.

I went for the plastic handle!!

I want to clean up some wooden steps before oiling them. And I've managed to get lots of little lint bits caught up in the wood. I hope the wire brush will get all those bits out!

don't like manic mondays

Yup, monday. The week has started for sure. And I'm still hanging on by my fingertips (better than by my fingernails I guess).

Id it better to be in control, or just let it happen? I have to ask myself (the nlp coming out here) In control of what?

Myself, my future, other people, life, plans, my office?

Or does it depend on context. Be out of control when hanging out. Be in control at work?

decisions, decisions, I have to read "blink!" I think.

phew back in the groove.

I'd say I'm almost back in the groove now after about 6 weeks of disruption. It feels good. I can get down to it and get ahead.

Shall I write the revenuepilot and searchfeed php script, or shall I buy and adapt? Probably go for a download and modify it approach. Or how about javascript? (could A/B test it I suppose...)

Then I can know exactly what is what. And how it all works and integrate it into mycms system.
